Wine lovers unite at Corner Wines

Collin County wine lovers have embraced Corner Wines since it opened in April 2006 at Lakeside Market on Preston Road in Plano, Texas. Operated by Jim and Lynda McDevitt, the shop boasts a hand selected collection of over 400 boutique wines from around the world. Best of all we offer knowledge and passion about each of the wines.

Boutique wine does not mean expensive, it means small volume production. In fact, the bulk of the inventory in the store is between $10 and $25 a bottle. Of course, we carry higher end wines to meet the needs of all our customers. Our knowledge comes from tasting each wine before we put the wines on our shelves. Yes, we have tasted all the wines in the store.

Because Americans appetite for wines is growing, we at Corner Wines want to educate the consumers in a friendly atmosphere to create a fun and non-intimidating wine experience for them. It is exciting for our customers as we guide them through the different wines based on their individual likes. We also enjoy finding new wines to introduce to our customers. One of the best comments we can hear is, "I'm glad you had me try that different wine."

Customer service

At Corner Wines, customer service is the shop's claim to fame. The owners and staff work with customers to help them pinpoint their preferences and select a wine that meets their needs and palates. The staff has tasted all the wines which enable them to discuss the wines with the customers and provide knowledgeable input about the wines in the store.

We offer tasting of different varietals

To add to a wine lover’s knowledge, we offer tastings of different varietals every weekend and hold classes once a month on Saturday afternoons. The classes are informative around a particular wine type or region, offering wine tasting along with instruction.

Every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm we have a tasting featuring 4 or 5 wines. Appetizers are served and music plays as the owners mingle among the crowd to answer questions or provide information.

Corner Wines is located at LAKESIDE MARKET 4017 Preston Road, between Parker and Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, Texas 75093. The shop is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., and closed on Sunday. For more information, call 972-403-9463.
